My Country Wedding

My-Wedding.jpg

I've been married to my very best friend for exactly 5 months today! And it's been wonderful!

I think that it's about time I shared with you, a bit about our special day!

Details & Decor

We chose to get married in the pasture of my family's farm! I wanted the day to be fun, casual, and a reflection of the two of us. (Read our "Love Story", here.) So, naturally, the day included lots of country dancing, live music, yummy food, some Jack 'n Coke, and lots things built by hand! A huge thanks to all our friends and family that helped out!!

The Pasture

The Pasture

Windmill

My dad has always wanted to have a windmill on the farm. So, having our wedding here gave him the excuse to get one! When we found it, it had been laying on it's side and bent! So Dad, Grandpa, Armando, and I all helped get it in perfect shape!

Dance Floor

The dance floor was built the day of the wedding by my Dad, Armando, the Groomsmen, and our family and friends!  So many people helped out and it was perfect for all the two stepping and line dancing that night! It's still up, today!

Stage

We used a trailer my dad had, attached to an old Oliver Tractor for the band. My dad also found some tractor lights to make a light bar to line the stage!

String Lights

What could be better than string lights to light the reception?! My dad found some telephone poles (He will use them for owl housed on the farm, later) and we put up with the tractor, and strung the lights! It turned out beautifully, if I do say so myself. Look below to see them in all of their glory!

Tables

All of the tables were built by hand! Crazy, I know! But the rental tables that fit in with the style we wanted for our wedding were too expensive! And we didn't want the tablecloths to touch the pasture ground! So with a bit of work, cutting, routing, staining, they came together! And were the perfect setting for our burlap and lace tablecloths, and mason jar flower arrangements! My aunt Kristi and Aunt Pam did the flowers, with the help of some bridesmaids!

Food & Catering

We had our food catered by Kathy Crettol! A local favorite! For dinner, we had a delicious buffet of tri-tip and chicken with spinach strawberry salad with almonds, green beans, potatoes, and a dinner roll! Yum!

We used to have a horse when I was younger, so this has been sitting around our farm ever since! It has also been used for sheep, goats, and alpacas over the years! But one of our friends mentioned that we should use it for the gifts at our wedding and I thought that was a great idea! It even made it easier to bring all the gifts up to the house when the party was over!

Barbed Wire Fence and Polaroid Guest "Book"

Polariods

Polariods

My inspiration for this came from Pinterest! Except, they had the polaroids hanging on string, and I thought, why not make a barbed wire fence to go along with our country style? We already had the barbed wire and old fence posts lying around the farm! I had so much fun building this and I'm pretty sure this is going to find a place in our home sometime soon!We found some old Polaroid cameras on eBay and my bridesmaids and friends took the Polaroid pictures!

Painted Signs

Armando and I handpainted so many signs to decorate our reception! We chose some lyrics from our favorite songs and had them placed all around! Armando and I met and fell in love over dancing and music so it just fit that we added these personal touches to our wedding!

General Store & Wedding Favors

general store

general store

This was one of our last-minute projects! I was trying to think of ways to display our favors that fit in with our theme! We found some old wood on the farm and put this "General Store" together! My parents had collected some antique items and my mom already had the spinning wheel and the baskets! It came together even better than I imagined! Our favors were our own farm fresh almonds! With the help of a few friends, my mom and I made some roasted & salted almonds, kept some natural, and packaged them into small mason jars covered with fabric and twine!

The Rings!

Our cake was made by my friend, Kaley! She has done wedding cakes for friends in the past and always does a wonderful job! Though seemingly simple on the outside, each cake was a different flavor! We had We had lemon, chocolate, chocolate vanilla marble, and banana chocolate swirl! I wish I could have tried them all! It was delicious!

Wedding Day Attire-17

Wedding Day Attire-17

I didn't do the traditional dress shopping with my bridesmaids. They all lived in different places, and besides, I was quite sure that I wouldn't find the dress I was dreaming of, in a dress shop. I wanted both a long lacy dress for the ceremony and a short flowy dress for dancing. But I didn't want two different dresses! So, I went to Janet Domino, who designed the dress of my dreams!A country girl's gotta wear boots at her wedding! It took me so long to find the perfect ones, but here they are! They even had "something blue"!My hair and make up were done by Alexis! She made me feel so beautiful on my wedding day!

Bridesmaids & Groomsmen

Bridesmaids

These girls have been there for me during all different times of my life. We were Camp Fire girls, high school friends, roommates, dancing buddies, college friends, sisters, and so much more! I love these girls with all my heart! And they all were so amazing and helpful on my wedding day, too!I didn't think the traditional matchy matchy bridesmaids dresses fit my style, so I asked my bridesmaids to choose a sundress of their choice and pair them with cowboy boots! They looked so gorgeous! (My aunts made my bridesmaid's bouquets, too!)

Groomsmen

The handsome groomsmen wore blue wranglers, boots, and the light-colored button up of their choice! You could never tell that they were all helping build the dance floor just hours before! An amazing group of gentlemen!! I'm a little partial to the one in the black jacket, tho. ;)

The Ceremony

My dad drove the bridesmaids and my mom down to the pasture on the back of his tractor!
