A Fall List: The Last Few Weeks
A lot has been going on in the last few weeks...
1. We found a wallet that was lost by a kid in the 80's...
Armando was helping fix up a bulldozer that my dad had gotten recently, when they noticed something was hanging out from the over the track... Right about here.
It was a wallet and it belonged to Brian Wilson in 1982, 33 years ago, when he was about 13. He must have been on the dozer when it fell out of his pocket! I would love to send these memories back to Brian, if we can find him! My dad bought the dozer in Lancaster, CA. So it is possible that he had lived there at some point. He would be 46 today!
2. I made decorations for my wonderful friend's baby shower!
A wonderful friend of mine is having a baby soon! And we celebrated with a baby shower! Lucky for me, I was given the opportunity to help with the decorations, and this is the result! Hand lettered Chalkboards and Hanging Onesies for a Guestbook! Luckily my friend enjoys rustic decor like I do, so this was so fun to make! I can easily see how this style of decorations can be used for wedding celebrations and more! Send me a message if you’d like me to make something like these for you!
3. We celebrated Thanksgiving at our place!
It was the first time Armando & I hosted Thanksgiving!
Mom made the Turkey, Gravy, Stuffing, Fruit Salad, and Rolls and I made Smoked Paprika & Garlic Mashed Taters, a completely Homemade Green Bean Casserole and a homemade Pumpkin Pie for dessert! Armando was such a good helper, too!
We didn't have enough chairs at our house for everyone so we used the bench that Armando made me for our wedding. I think it looked real nice at our table. :)
I have so many things to be thankful for this year... my wonderful new husband, my family, good friends, good food,
and so much more...
4. We went to a Car Show & saw some Christmas lights
and took photos on film!
But the pictures aren't ready yet, so you'll have to wait until I have them processed before I can show them to you! :) I'm hoping I'll be able to process them myself like I did in College! I miss having a darkroom I can visit whenever I want... I didn't realize how nice that was, until it was gone! Maybe someday I'll have my own...
5. I went on a sunset walk the other day to see what my husband was doing. It was getting dark and he was still out there workin'!
On the way, I walked through our Almond Orchard. The trees already look so different from when I last walked through here. The trees are now so bare and the leaves cover the ground. But it's not just mother nature that made the leaves fall so quickly...
Almond Fact:
During this time of the year we shake the trees to get all the "mummy nuts" off. Mummy nuts are the almonds that hung tight to the trees during harvest and can harbor pests. So at night, when the air is moist and the almonds are a bit heavier, we shake the trees to remove them. If we left them on, they could spread bugs to the new crop next year and that would not be good!
As I got closer to where my dad and Armando were working, I saw Dad walking back to the barn.
That's our solar panel in the background. It runs the pump to irrigate our Almonds.
When I got closer, it looked like everyone else had left too... Armando was nowhere in sight. So I began to look around.
This is where they are starting to dig a new well for the farm.
There he is! He was hiding in the tractor when I walked by! Silly Goose!
He was smoothing the road so the big trucks can get by easier.
Armando got the dozer to compact the soil some more and move a little more dirt.
Then it got a little dark, so we decided that was good enough for tonight!
6. The "Poso Creek Country Club".
A bunch of our neighbors got together by the creek bed last night and had a potluck and bonfire. It was really nice visiting with our neighbors, listening to country music, and enjoying the outdoors. We should do this more often!
That's all for now!
Love,
